Body mass index (BMI) is a measure
of a person's body fatness or thinness based on height and weight. BMI values are age-independent and the same for
both sexes. However, BMI may not correspond to the same degree of
fatness in different populations due, in part, to different body
proportions. The health risks associated with increasing BMI are
continuous and the interpretation of BMI gradings in relation to risk
may differ for different populations.

BMI is a relatively straightforward equation that measures a person's body fat by comparing their weight to their height:
(Weight in pounds) / (Height in inches) (Height in inches) x 703
You can also figure out your BMI without doing any math, here: http://www.bmi-calculator-weight.com/bmi-calculator/.
There are four different categories a person can fall into, ranging from underweight to obese. They are:
*18.4 or lower: Underweight.
*18.5 to 24.9: Normal weight.
*25 to 29.9: Overweight.
*30 or higher: Obese.
